Farmer Stabbed to Death Over Love Marriage in Prayagraj

Prayagraj: A 52-year-old farmer was allegedly stabbed to death in a suspected fallout of a family dispute linked to a love marriage outside his household in Karma Chakia Dera village under Ghurpur police station limits in Prayagraj’s Trans-Yamuna region late Sunday.

Following the incident, senior police officials have formed four teams to apprehend the accused, while two persons named in the FIR have been detained for questioning.

Background of the Dispute

A few months earlier, the victim Tilakdhari Bharatiya’s nephew had a love marriage with a girl from the extended family. After the marriage, both sides disowned the couple, who later began living in another village. However, the dispute between the two families resurfaced on Sunday evening, with both sides levelling allegations against each other.

Details of the Attack

Family members of the deceased farmer alleged that a group of unidentified armed miscreants attacked Tilakdhari while he was sleeping outside his house. Hearing his screams, his daughters rushed out, after which villagers came to know about the incident. The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. Further details are awaited.
