Former Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai is likely to resign from the party after six years, citing dissatisfaction with seat-sharing negotiations for the upcoming assembly elections.
Resignation Imminent
Annamalai is expected to submit his resignation to BJP leadership in New Delhi on Tuesday. He has been with the party for six years and is reportedly upset over the alliance with AIADMK and the allocation of constituencies during seat-sharing talks for the April 23 assembly elections.
Alliance Disputes
The former state chief had stepped down to facilitate the BJP's alliance with AIADMK. However, he had public disagreements with AIADMK leaders over the distribution of seats. In Pudukkottai district, the BJP contested only three seats, which Annamalai considered insufficient.
Political Shift Concerns
Annamalai believes that Tamil Nadu's political landscape has changed significantly. He feels that national parties are losing ground, and young voters are increasingly seeking politicians who align with their aspirations. This shift in voter behavior has influenced his decision to leave the party.
Low-Profile Exit
Annamalai's exit is expected to be low-profile. He may not immediately launch his own political party but plans to discuss future strategies with his supporters over the coming weeks. His next steps remain unclear at this time.
