Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma allocated portfolios to four ministers on Wednesday, filling key vacancies in his cabinet. The reshuffle comes after a recent expansion and aims to streamline administrative functions.
New Portfolio Assignments
The four ministers who received portfolios are:
- Ranoj Pegu - Education, Higher Education, and Social Welfare
- Ajanta Neog - Health and Family Welfare
- Bimal Borah - Agriculture, Horticulture, and Food Processing
- Udayan Guha - Panchayat and Rural Development
These assignments fill gaps left by previous ministers who were dropped or reassigned. The CM emphasized that the new team will focus on delivering key government schemes.
Strategic Importance
The allocation of the Education portfolio to Ranoj Pegu is seen as a move to prioritize school and higher education reforms. Similarly, Ajanta Neog's charge of Health comes amid efforts to strengthen the state's healthcare infrastructure.
This reshuffle is part of a broader strategy to enhance governance efficiency and ensure that development projects are implemented effectively across Assam.
