The Nakodar police have intensified their crackdown on drug-related activities with a series of arrests across the region. In a recent operation, law enforcement officials apprehended two individuals on charges of selling intoxicating tablets. Station House Officer Harmindar Singh confirmed that 56 intoxicating tablets were seized from the suspects, identified as Jaswindar, alias Jassi, and Monoj, alias Mohit, both residents of Mohalla Udham Singh Nagar. Legal proceedings have been initiated against them under Sections 22, 61, and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Further Arrests in Drug Peddling Cases
In a separate incident, the police arrested Harpal Singh, alias Bhala, a resident of Pati Takhar Shankar village, with 26 intoxicating tablets in his possession. Additionally, Sagar, a resident of Chacha Colony Ward No. 1 in Lohian Khas, was taken into custody with 33 intoxicating tablets. Both individuals have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, reflecting the police's commitment to curbing the illegal drug trade in the area.
Man Booked for Sexual Abuse
In another development, the police have registered a case against a Nakodar villager for allegedly sexually harassing a woman. The accused has been identified as Charanjit Singh, a resident of Bajuha Khurd village under the Nakodar Sadar police station. According to the victim's complaint, she was married to Som Dutt in November 2023, and her father-in-law, Charanjit Singh, subjected her to sexual harassment. No arrest has been made thus far, and police raids are ongoing to apprehend the absconding accused.
Two Held for Drug Consumption
The Nakodar police also arrested two individuals on charges of consuming heroin. The accused were identified as Sandip Sharma of Mohalla Bhagat Singh Nagar and Gurpreet of Mohalla Ravidass Pura. During the arrest, law enforcement officers recovered two lighters, two silver papers, and plastic pipes used for consuming the contraband. A case under Sections 27, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against them.
Man Arrested with 15 Grams of Heroin
In Shahkot, the police arrested a man for allegedly selling heroin. Deputy Superintendent of Police Sarwan Singh Bal stated that 15 grams of heroin were recovered from the suspect, identified as Kamal Deep, alias Rauki, a resident of Mohalla Bawian, Shahkot. The accused has been charged under Sections 21, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act, highlighting the ongoing efforts to dismantle drug networks in the region.
Proclaimed Offender Arrested in Theft Case
The Mehatpur police have successfully arrested a proclaimed offender who had been absconding since last month. The accused, identified as Manga, alias Sunil, a resident of Mehatpur town, was wanted in connection with a theft case. His arrest marks a significant step in the police's campaign to bring fugitives to justice and ensure public safety.
