Four Punjab Municipal Councils to Vote on June 13

The municipal councils of Dinanagar, Gurdaspur, Qadian, and Sham Chaurasi will go to the polls on June 13, as announced by the State Election Commission (SEC) on Tuesday. According to the election schedule, counting of votes will take place immediately after polling concludes on the same day.

Nomination and Scrutiny Timeline

The filing of nomination papers will commence on May 30 between 11 am and 3 pm at the office of the designated Returning Officer. The last date for filing nominations is June 3, up to 3 pm. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on June 4, and candidates may withdraw their nominations by June 5 at 3 pm.

Polling Details

Polling hours on June 13 are set from 8 am to 4 pm. An SEC spokesperson confirmed that the Model Code of Conduct has come into immediate effect in the jurisdictions of these four municipal councils and will remain in force until the election process is completed.
