Members of the Quami Insaaf Morcha have announced that they will permit commuters to cross the Ladhowal toll plaza without paying toll fees for two hours on Tuesday, June 9, from noon to 2 pm. This move is part of an intensified protest demanding the release of Bandi Sikhs (Sikh prisoners).
Meeting Decisions
The decision was finalized during a meeting held on Monday, where the morcha also assigned responsibilities to various organizations to ensure mass participation in the upcoming protest. After the meeting, members addressed the media, outlining their plans.
Rescheduled Rail Roko Protest
The morcha discussed the previously planned 'rail roko' protest, originally scheduled for June 16 at Rajpura. In view of the paddy transplantation season, the protest has been rescheduled to July 4. On that day, trains will be halted from noon to 2 pm.
Plans for August 15 Mobilization
Members also deliberated on preparations for a major mobilization on August 15, which they described as a 'fight to the finish.' They aim to unite farmers, laborers, employees, and Sikh organizations from Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Jammu and Kashmir. The goal is to bring together lakhs of people against what leaders termed as 'oppression and arrogance' of the central and state governments.
The effort is focused on uniting diverse Sikh groups and building a large-scale movement. The morcha is pushing for the release of Sikh prisoners and opposing government policies they consider unjust.
