Major Fire Incident in Gaya Destroys Multiple Shops
A massive fire broke out late on Sunday night near the Bhusunda Mela ground in Gaya, under the jurisdiction of the Mufassil police station. The blaze gutted at least 10 roadside shops, resulting in significant financial losses estimated at approximately Rs 50 lakh, according to statements from the affected traders.
Rapid Spread and Complete Destruction
Local residents reported that the fire spread with alarming speed, leaving shopkeepers and nearby inhabitants with minimal time to react. The flames quickly engulfed the entire stretch of roadside establishments, reducing furniture, fruits, pan masala, meat, and various other goods to ashes. Fire tenders arrived at the scene around 2 a.m. on Monday, but by that time, the shops had already been completely destroyed.
No Casualties but Severe Economic Impact
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. However, the economic consequences are severe. Affected vendors, including Varun Kumar and Reena Devi, expressed that the fire has plunged several families into a livelihood crisis. They have urgently appealed to the district administration for immediate compensation and relief measures to assist in rebuilding their businesses and recovering from the substantial losses.
Community and Administrative Response
The incident highlights the vulnerabilities of roadside shops to fire hazards and underscores the need for enhanced safety protocols in such areas. The local community is rallying to support the affected families, while authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the fire and assess the full extent of the damage. The traders' call for compensation reflects the broader challenges faced by small business owners in the aftermath of such disasters.
