GBA Polls Delay Due to Congress Fear of Defeat: Ashoka

Senior BJP leader and former Karnataka minister R Ashoka on Thursday accused the Congress government of deliberately delaying the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) elections due to fear of defeat. He alleged that the ruling party is avoiding the polls because it knows it will lose.

Allegations of Political Motives

Ashoka further charged that Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who holds the Bengaluru development portfolio, wanted to postpone the elections until he becomes the chief minister. “Shivakumar is deliberately stalling the GBA polls to suit his political ambitions. The Congress is scared of facing the people,” Ashoka said.

Impact on Bengaluru's Governance

The delay in holding the GBA elections has raised concerns about the city’s governance and development. The BJP leader emphasized that the absence of an elected body is hampering decision-making and project implementation in the state capital.

Ashoka also criticized the Congress for prioritizing internal politics over public welfare. “The people of Bengaluru are suffering because of the Congress government’s inability to conduct timely elections. This is a clear sign of their incompetence and fear of defeat,” he added.
