Gehlot Criticizes BJP Over Jaipur's Stalled Coaching Hub

Former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot Launches Scathing Attack on BJP-Led State Government Over Stalled Pratap Nagar Coaching Hub

In a sharp critique, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday targeted the BJP-led state government over the stalled Pratap Nagar Coaching Hub project in Jaipur. Gehlot questioned why coaching institutes have not yet been relocated to the multi-crore facility, which was inaugurated in 2023.

Allegations of Neglect and External Pressure

Through his social media series 'Intezarshastra', Gehlot alleged that the country's first organised coaching hub is facing severe neglect under the current administration. He claimed the government's indecision is driven by alleged "external pressure," leaving modern infrastructure underutilised and denying students a better, stress-free academic environment.

Gehlot noted that a union of coaching institutes had already submitted a written request to relocate to the hub. However, he asserted that the government instead handed the facility over to IIT Jodhpur to deflect criticism, despite the engineering institute already possessing an adequate campus.

Details of the Pratap Nagar Coaching Hub

The hub was developed over 65,000 square metres in Pratap Nagar with the aim of decongesting parts of Jaipur. It was designed to offer students a safe, centralised location equipped with:

  • A library
  • Cyber lab
  • Gym
  • Food court
  • Ample parking

Questioning Infrastructure Priorities

Gehlot further questioned the government's infrastructure priorities. He stated that instead of building a ₹185 crore elevated road in the Gopalpura–Triveni Nagar area, the government should focus on relocating coaching centres to the hub as originally planned. This move, he argued, would better serve students and utilise the modern facilities effectively.

The former chief minister's comments highlight ongoing tensions over the project's implementation and raise concerns about its future under the current state leadership.
