Panaji: Goa Forward Party (GFP) chief and Fatorda legislator Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday launched a sharp critique of the state government, stating that Goa is completely 'Ram bharose' (at God's mercy).
No Vision or Policy, Says Sardesai
Sardesai asserted that the government lacks a clear vision, policy, or roadmap for the state's development. He accused the administration of being preoccupied with issuing taxi permits and rent-a-cab permissions, which he claimed has created chaos and forced locals and outsiders into conflict while tourism faces a downturn.
Those dependent on tourism are uncertain about their future, Sardesai noted, as inflation continues to burden the people. He alleged that the state government has no concrete plan to protect families or livelihoods.
Allegations of Divisive Politics
The GFP chief further accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of importing divisive elements to disturb Goa's religious harmony and polarize voters through communal tactics. He emphasized that insults to St Francis Xavier cannot be tolerated, just as insults to Hindu gods cannot be tolerated. Sardesai declared that Goans reject this politics of division and are aware of the tricks being played.
Sardesai's remarks come amid growing concerns over tourism and economic stability in the coastal state.
