Goa Chief Minister Addresses Fuel Concerns, Urges Calm Amid LPG Supply
In a significant announcement aimed at alleviating public anxiety, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has strongly advised citizens against purchasing and hoarding additional domestic LPG cylinders at home. The Chief Minister emphasized that there is absolutely no shortage of domestic LPG cylinders in the state, urging residents to refrain from panic-buying and unnecessary storage.
Government Increases Commercial LPG Cylinder Quota to 40%
In a move to support businesses, Chief Minister Sawant revealed that starting from Thursday, the state government will substantially increase the allocation of LPG cylinders for commercial consumers. The quota will be raised from the current 20% to a more robust 40%, ensuring that commercial establishments have adequate supply to meet their operational needs. This strategic adjustment is designed to balance demand across both domestic and commercial sectors effectively.
Sawant also encouraged commercial consumers to consider switching to Piped Natural Gas (PNG) supply as a sustainable alternative, highlighting the government's efforts to promote diverse energy solutions.
No Petrol Shortage in Goa, Assures Chief Minister
Addressing concerns over long queues at fuel pumps across Goa, Chief Minister Sawant categorically stated that there is no petrol shortage in the state. He assured the public that the required quota of fuel for eight days is readily available and will be consistently maintained to prevent any disruptions. "We are committed to ensuring a steady supply of petrol, and there is no need for citizens to worry or queue up unnecessarily," Sawant affirmed.
Continuous Coordination with Central Government on Fuel Issues
The Chief Minister disclosed that the state government is in continuous and close contact with the central government regarding all fuel-related matters. He expressed confidence that within the next eight days, all issues pertaining to LPG supply will be fully resolved, thanks to this collaborative approach.
Furthermore, Sawant highlighted that the state government is actively monitoring the supply of LPG for domestic purposes. He guaranteed that once a domestic LPG cylinder is booked by a consumer, it will be delivered within a maximum period of 15 days, ensuring timely access for households.
Enhanced Supply Measures for Commercial and Domestic Consumers
Reiterating the government's commitment, Chief Minister Sawant said, "We are maintaining the supply of domestic LPG cylinders for consumers to ensure no one faces hardships." He added that while 20% of LPG cylinders have already been allocated to commercial consumers, an additional 20% will now be made available, effectively doubling their access as part of the new quota system.
This comprehensive approach by the Goa government aims to:
- Prevent panic-buying and stockpiling of domestic LPG cylinders.
- Boost supply for commercial entities through increased quotas.
- Ensure petrol availability and manage pump queues efficiently.
- Resolve LPG-related issues swiftly through central-state coordination.
- Guarantee timely delivery of domestic cylinders within 15 days of booking.
By addressing both domestic and commercial fuel needs proactively, the state leadership seeks to maintain stability and reassure citizens during this period.
