Goa Congress President Girish Chodankar on Thursday demanded that the Director General of Police (DGP) publicly disclose the status of the investigation into the alleged cash-for-job scam. He stated that the scam has shaken the confidence of thousands of unemployed youth and their families across the state.
DGP's Responsibility
Chodankar emphasized that as the senior-most police officer, the DGP has a constitutional and moral responsibility to ensure that the investigation proceeds fearlessly and without any political interference. He urged the police chief to come forward and share the progress of the probe with the public.
Unanswered Questions
Highlighting that the job scam broke out more than a year ago, Chodankar pointed out that there are many unanswered questions regarding the scam. He noted that the police have yet to respond to these queries. The Congress leader questioned whether the investigation has progressed, how many people have been questioned, and what steps have been taken to bring the culprits to justice.
Impact on Youth
According to Chodankar, the job scam is not merely a case of corruption but a direct assault on the aspirations of Goa's youth. He expressed concern that many families may have sacrificed their hard-earned savings in the hope of securing employment for their children. The scam, he added, has caused immense distress and disappointment among the unemployed youth who were seeking legitimate job opportunities.
Chodankar reiterated the demand for transparency in the investigation and called upon the state government to ensure that the guilty are punished without delay. He stressed that the people of Goa have the right to know the truth about the scam and the actions taken by the authorities.
