In a significant political development that could reshape Goa's electoral landscape, Revolutionary Goans (RG) President Manoj Parab has indicated that a potential alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the 2027 state assembly elections remains a distinct possibility.
Alliance Possibilities Beyond Expectations
Speaking on Tuesday in Margao, Parab made surprising revelations about future political partnerships. The RG president acknowledged that while they never anticipated joining forces with Congress or the Goa Forward Party (GFP), such alliances have materialized against expectations.
"We never even dreamt we would enter into an alliance with Congress or GFP, but this has happened," Parab stated, drawing parallels to the potential with AAP. He emphasized the unpredictable nature of political partnerships by adding, "So, regarding the question of an alliance with AAP, anything can happen."
AAP's Current Stance and Future Negotiations
Parab did highlight a significant hurdle in immediate alliance talks. AAP has already declared its intention to contest all 40 seats in the upcoming zilla panchayat polls, creating an interesting dynamic for future negotiations.
The RG president made it clear that the ball is now in AAP's court regarding any potential collaboration. "It is up to AAP to decide if it wants to change its stand and enter an alliance," Parab asserted, indicating that RG is open to discussions but won't initiate them given AAP's current position.
Seat-Sharing and Supreme Court Verdict
Another crucial factor influencing future political arrangements involves the Supreme Court's pending decision. Parab confirmed that RG will await the Supreme Court's verdict on reservation matters before finalizing any seat-sharing arrangements for the upcoming elections.
The RG leader also expressed disapproval of the proposed "10-10-30" seat distribution formula being discussed for GFP-RGP-Congress alliances. This indicates RG's careful approach to ensuring fair representation in any future political partnerships.
These developments come at a crucial time when political parties in Goa are beginning to position themselves for the 2027 assembly elections, with potential alliances and seat-sharing arrangements becoming key discussion points among political circles.
