Gujarat Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi Declares Home Department as State's Protective Shield

In a significant address during the assembly session on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi underscored the critical role of the home department, describing it as the shield of Gujarat. Speaking on the budgetary allocation for the home department, Sanghavi highlighted the state government's unwavering commitment to law and order and public safety.

Zero-Tolerance Policy and Judicial Efficiency

Sanghavi reiterated that the Gujarat government has adopted a strict zero-tolerance policy against criminals, ensuring swift action to maintain peace. He praised the judiciary for its promptness in delivering justice to citizens, which he said reinforces the state's robust legal framework. Additionally, Sanghavi revealed that the state's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has successfully apprehended 29 terrorists over the past three years, showcasing the effectiveness of security measures.

Crackdown on Anti-Social Elements

The Deputy CM emphasized that the government will continue its aggressive stance against anti-social elements and land mafia. He stated that properties linked to such activities are being demolished as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal operations and protect public interests.

Electronics Policy Gains Momentum

In other assembly discussions, the state government provided updates on the Gujarat Electronics Policy 2022-28. Officials reported that from the past two years ending December 31, 2025, a total of 41 applications were received under this policy. Of these, 23 have received in-principle approval, signaling strong interest in the electronics manufacturing sector. The government estimates that these approvals could attract an investment of approximately Rs 31,340 crore, boosting the state's economy and creating job opportunities.

Village-Level Data Services Initiative

During the question hour, Science and Technology Minister Arjun Modhwadia announced plans to enhance digital connectivity across Gujarat. Through the Gujarat State Wide Area Network (GSWAN), the government aims to extend data network services up to the village level. Modhwadia highlighted that Gujarat is leading the country in establishing a comprehensive data network framework, ensuring that even remote areas have access to reliable internet and digital services, which is crucial for development and governance.
