Former Minister Harish Rao Accuses Congress Government of Revenue Administration Disarray
In a scathing critique, former minister T Harish Rao on Thursday leveled serious allegations against the Congress government, asserting that the introduction of Bhu Bharati has thrown the revenue administration into complete disarray. Rao claimed this move has resulted in widespread corruption, significant delays, and unwarranted harassment of farmers and landowners across the state.
Field Visit Reveals Systemic Failures
During a detailed visit to the Siddipet urban mandal revenue office, Harish Rao engaged directly with numerous applicants who reported waiting for months without resolution of their land-related issues. He highlighted that people are now being forced to run from office to office for services that were delivered smoothly and efficiently during the previous BRS regime.
"There is a complete breakdown in accountability," Rao stated emphatically. "It appears as though these applications have been dumped into a dustbin, with no transparency or progress."
Staggering Backlog of Unresolved Applications
Harish Rao revealed alarming statistics, noting that over 8.68 lakh applications were received statewide during revenue grievance meetings following the launch of Bhu Bharati. Despite this massive influx, even after 10 months, the government has failed to disclose how many of these applications have been resolved or digitized.
- Lack of transparency in application processing
- No public disclosure of resolution rates
- Extended delays affecting thousands of citizens
Multiple Policy Concerns Raised
The former minister further accused the government of stalling the ‘Sada Bainama' regularisation process, which has left many landowners in legal limbo. Additionally, he criticized the expansion of prohibited land lists without proper transparency, creating confusion and uncertainty among property holders.
Rao also pointed to worsening administrative delays after the replacement of the Dharani portal, which previously streamlined land records and transactions. He demanded an immediate comprehensive review of these policies and urgent corrective action to restore efficiency and trust in the revenue system.
- Immediate review of Bhu Bharati implementation
- Transparency in prohibited land list expansions
- Restoration of efficient digital systems for land records
The allegations underscore growing concerns about governance and administrative efficiency under the current administration, with Harish Rao positioning himself as a vocal critic of policies affecting rural and urban landowners alike.
