Haryana BJP Constitutes Five-Member Committee for Upcoming Civic Elections
The Bharatiya Janata Party's core group in Haryana has taken decisive steps to prepare for the impending civic polls and Panchayati Raj institution byelections. On Tuesday, following the announcement of the election schedule, the party established a dedicated five-member committee tasked with the crucial responsibility of identifying and shortlisting potential candidates.
Election Schedule and Participating Municipal Bodies
The electoral process is set to unfold on May 10, encompassing seven municipal bodies across the state. Voters will cast their ballots for the municipal corporations of Panchkula, Sonipat, and Ambala. Additionally, elections will be conducted for the municipal council of Rewari, along with the municipal committees of Uklana, Sampla, and Dharuhera.
High-Level Core Group Meeting at Panchkula Headquarters
A significant gathering of the BJP's core group convened at the state headquarters in Panchkula to strategize for the upcoming polls. The meeting was presided over by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Haryana BJP President Mohan Lal Badoli. The assembly included prominent senior leaders such as state in-charge Dr. Satish Poonia, national vice-president Saudan Singh, national general secretary Om Prakash Dhankhar, central parliamentary board member Dr. Sudha Yadav, Union Minister Krishnapal Gurjar, Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Barala, Dr. Kamal Gupta, Captain Abhimanyu, and organization minister Phanindranath Sharma.
Discussions during the meeting extended beyond the civic polls to encompass broader party initiatives. Participants deliberated on the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, the Prime Minister's Mann Ki Baat program, and various other scheduled party activities. Chief Minister Saini provided detailed insights into state government policies, while President Badoli addressed organizational matters. Dr. Satish Poonia emphasized the necessity for enhanced coordination between the party organization and the government to ensure effective public outreach of policies.
Strategic Focus on Nari Shakti Vandan Bill and Election Preparations
Addressing the media post-meeting, Chief Minister Saini highlighted the upcoming presentation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill in the Lok Sabha, for which a comprehensive strategy has been formulated. He announced that the BJP's Mahila Morcha would spearhead this campaign, with resolutions of support being prepared across panchayats, municipalities, and municipal corporations.
BJP President Badoli outlined the party's meticulous preparation for the municipal body elections. He revealed that duties have been assigned to ministers and office-bearers to oversee the electoral process. For constituencies facing byelections, a three-member committee comprising the district president, district in-charge, and general secretary has already been established.
Detailed Timeline for Candidate Selection and Campaign Activities
Badoli provided a structured timeline for the candidate selection process. A five-member committee will conduct consultations and prepare reports on April 15 and 16 in all election-bound areas. During this period, application forms will be collected from aspiring candidates. Senior party leaders will engage in separate discussions with MLAs and ministers from their respective constituencies.
From April 17 to 19, workers' meetings are scheduled to be held in every ward of the election areas to mobilize grassroots support. The culmination of this process will occur on April 20, with a meeting of the election committee to finalize the names of candidates.
Confidence in Victory and Critique of Opposition
Expressing strong confidence in the party's prospects, Badoli stated, "The opposition has no substantive issues, and the public does not trust the Congress party. BJP's victory in the municipal body elections is certain." This assertion underscores the party's optimistic outlook as it gears up for the electoral contest, positioning itself for a successful outcome in the upcoming civic polls.
