In a decisive move, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has launched a twin offensive against the notorious 'tanker mafia' operating in Gurgaon and issued a stern warning to private builders failing to deliver promised basic amenities to residents. The crackdown was announced during a review meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee held in Gurgaon.
Stringent Action Against Water Tanker Mafia
Chairing the meeting, CM Saini directed officials to take immediate and stringent action against individuals and groups involved in the illegal supply and purification of water. He expressed strong disapproval that such activities were plaguing a modern metropolis like Gurugram.
"Those involved in the illegal supply of water in a modern city like Gurugram would not be spared under any circumstances," the Chief Minister stated. He instructed the concerned departments and the Commissioner of Police to act promptly on citizen complaints and ensure that Station House Officers (SHOs) in affected areas prioritize these cases. The ultimate goal, he emphasized, is to prevent any disruption in the supply of safe and clean drinking water to the public.
Builders Put on Notice for Basic Amenities
Shifting focus to the real estate sector, the Chief Minister addressed numerous complaints regarding the lack of essential services in housing societies. He issued a clear directive to all builders, mandating that they must provide residents with the basic amenities specified in their agreements.
These amenities include reliable water supply, electricity, functional sewerage systems, well-maintained roads, and security. Saini warned that any developer found failing to comply with their contractual obligations or acting contrary to the agreement would face strict legal and administrative action from the state government.
Grievance Redressal and Pending Inquiries
The meeting proved to be highly productive in addressing public complaints. Out of seventeen issues presented during the session, the Chief Minister successfully resolved fifteen. The remaining two cases were kept pending for further examination, with officials directed to submit a detailed status report in the next meeting.
One significant complaint involved inordinate delays in online mutation registrations. Taking serious note of this, CM Saini ordered an immediate inquiry against a naib tehsildar allegedly responsible for the holdup.
Another pressing issue was raised by Manveer Singh, the Sarpanch of Bahoda Kala village, who reported that sewer line work in the village had been incomplete for three years, causing major inconvenience to locals. While officials cited pending permissions from various departments as the cause, the Chief Minister deemed such delays in public works as unacceptable.
He directed that immediate action be taken against the negligent officer, including the stoppage of their increment, to set a precedent and ensure accountability among public servants.
The meeting was also attended by Pataudi MLA Bimla Chaudhary, Sohna MLA Tejpal Tanwar, and Gurgaon MLA Mukesh Sharma, underscoring the collective effort to improve governance and public service delivery in the region.
