Nearly a month after BJP Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma's remarks against former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal sparked controversy, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini visited the Delhi residence of former Hisar MP Kuldeep Bishnoi. The visit is being viewed as a move to ease tensions and mend strained relations within the party.
CM's Warm Reception
In a video posted by Bhajan Lal's son, Kuldeep, the CM is seen warmly embracing Kuldeep, who is accompanied by his son, former Adampur MLA Bhavya Bishnoi, and Nalwa MLA Randhir Panihar. Kuldeep also shared photographs indicating that the CM had lunch with the family.
In his social media post, Kuldeep described Saini as a humble and soft-spoken leader and added that during the meeting, meaningful discussions on family matters as well as various political issues were held.
Timing of the Visit
Saini's visit comes just two days before the death anniversary of former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal on June 3. Political sources said Kuldeep had been preparing for a major show of strength on the occasion, as supporters of Bhajan Lal expected to gather from Haryana and neighbouring states.
Background of Controversy
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma had sparked controversy with her remarks at a public meeting in Panchkula during the Urban Local Bodies elections. The comments drew strong criticism from Kuldeep Bishnoi and his supporters, prompting Sharma to issue an apology. She later maintained that her remarks had been taken out of context and misrepresented by a section of social media.
The meeting between Saini and the Bishnoi family is seen as a strategic effort to bridge the gap and ensure party unity ahead of the death anniversary event.
