Haryana CM Announces Comprehensive Development Plan for Faridabad

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini unveiled a series of significant development announcements for Faridabad during the 'Dhanyavaad Evam Viksit Faridabad Rally' held in the city on Saturday. The initiatives span infrastructure, water management, healthcare, education, and recreational facilities, aiming to transform Faridabad into a model urban center.

Traffic and Pollution Control Measures

In a bid to address growing urban challenges, Saini announced that major junctions in Faridabad will be improved in a phased manner. This strategic upgrade is designed to ensure smooth traffic flow and significantly reduce pollution levels, enhancing the quality of life for residents.

Water Supply and Conservation Initiatives

Addressing water quality concerns, the CM revealed plans to explore sourcing fresh drinking water from the Upper Ganga Canal. Coordination with the Uttar Pradesh government will be established to facilitate bringing canal water to Faridabad, moving away from groundwater-based supply which has faced quality issues.

Additionally, rainwater harvesting systems will be installed at 50 community centers and parks in the first phase. All government buildings will also be equipped with such systems by their respective departments, a move aimed at conserving water resources and mitigating waterlogging problems.

New Recreational and Commercial Developments

Saini announced the development of a nature park in Greater Faridabad under the Divya Nagar scheme, with an estimated cost of approximately Rs 10 crore. Furthermore, a large banquet hall will be constructed above a multi-level parking facility on about 3 acres of HSVP land opposite the convention hall and near the Labour Court.

In a significant boost to commercial infrastructure, IMT Sector-66 will be developed as a commercial sector and transformed into an entertainment city. This project will feature modern amenities including:

  • Cinema halls
  • Hotels
  • Multiplexes

Healthcare, Education, and Sports Facilities

The state government will provide land for setting up a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Greater Faridabad, enhancing educational opportunities. A multi-speciality hospital in Sector-8 will be established under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode, improving healthcare access.

Additionally, the swimming pool located in Sector-12 will be upgraded under PPP mode and developed into an all-weather facility meeting international standards, promoting sports and recreation.

Foundation Stone Laying and Additional Funding

Continuing the development momentum, CM Saini laid the foundation stone for four major projects worth Rs 120.76 crore to accelerate Faridabad's holistic growth. These projects include:

  1. Construction of a rest house at a cost of Rs 50.61 crore
  2. Construction of a dispensary-cum-CMO office at Rs 41.70 crore
  3. Laying of sewerage lines in various areas at Rs 25 crore
  4. Construction of a school building in Old Faridabad at Rs 3.45 crore

An additional grant of Rs 5 crore was announced for further development works, underscoring the government's commitment to the city's progress.

Connectivity and Cleanliness Initiatives

Saini highlighted that the recently approved Delhi-Gurugram-Faridabad-Noida RRTS/Namo Bharat corridor will provide new economic strength to Faridabad and significantly enhance regional connectivity. Efforts are being made to reduce travel time between Faridabad, Gurugram, and Noida through this Regional Rapid Transit System.

In a push towards urban hygiene, the CM unveiled a cleanliness mascot and a cleanliness comic, appealing to citizens to actively participate in cleanliness drives. The government aims to make Faridabad one of the cleanest cities in the country.

Tracking Development Commitments

Saini stated that 44 Chief Minister announcements have been made in the Faridabad area over the past 11.5 years, with 24 already completed and work progressing rapidly on the remainder. He emphasized the government's track record of delivering on promises, noting that 60 out of 217 manifesto commitments have been fulfilled within one and a half years, with ongoing work on the rest.

The vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being realized in Haryana through 'Viksit Haryana', with the double-engine government implementing the mantra of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas' on the ground.

Rally convener and Haryana cabinet minister Vipul Goel remarked that 'Viksit Faridabad' is no longer just a dream but is rapidly becoming a reality. The CM has given top priority to Faridabad in budget allocations and development plans, accelerating its growth trajectory. Once Faridabad becomes part of the international global corridor, travel time to Jewar Airport is expected to reduce from two hours to just 30 minutes.
