The victory of Kamarvir Boudh, a Scheduled Caste leader, in elections held on Monday was hailed as a significant achievement, with workers distributing sweets and dancing to drum beats to mark the occasion.
Demands for Disciplinary Action Amid Festivities
Amid the revelry, a strong undercurrent of discontent emerged as party workers called for stringent measures against those accused of cross-voting during the election. They presented this demand directly to Haryana Congress President Rao Narendra Singh during his brief visit to Karnal.
Rao Narendra Singh responded firmly, stating, "The party will take decisive action against anyone who has betrayed its mandate. Those who have acted against the party will face strict consequences." He emphasized the leadership's commitment to upholding party discipline.
Allegations Against BJP and Credit to National Leadership
Singh also took the opportunity to credit the Congress's national leadership, including President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, for nominating a candidate from a humble background. He alleged that the ruling BJP attempted to sway the election through financial inducements, intimidation, and pressure tactics, but ultimately failed in its objectives.
He expressed gratitude to senior party leaders and legislators for their unwavering support, noting that the leadership remained actively engaged throughout the electoral process.
