Chandigarh: The Haryana Congress on Sunday promised a transparent, resident-friendly civic administration, with a focus on infrastructure upgrades, accountability and citizen-centric services, ahead of polls to seven urban local bodies.
The party has fielded candidates for mayoral and corporator posts in municipal corporations, including Panchkula, Ambala and Sonipat, while contesting top posts in smaller bodies.
Releasing the manifesto, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state chief Rao Narender Singh said it prioritises regular updates on development works, transparency in governance and better delivery of civic services.
They alleged widespread corruption in BJP-ruled civic bodies and cited the Panchkula municipal fund scam. "We will ensure transparency in every rupee collected and spent," Rao said.
Hooda said the manifesto reflects public concerns and needs, alleging that civic services have deteriorated and corruption has increased under BJP rule.
