The Haryana government has implemented a significant administrative reshuffle within its police force, issuing fresh posting orders for eight senior officers. The move, approved by the state administration, involves two officers from the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre and six from the Haryana Police Service (HPS).
Details of the IPS Officers' New Assignments
The two IPS officers reassigned in this round of transfers are of the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP). Shashank Kumar Sawan, a 2012-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police for the Jhajjar district. He was previously serving as the SP of Sonipat. Meanwhile, Rahul Sharma, a 2016-batch IPS officer, has been posted as the Superintendent of Police (SP) for the Panipat district. Prior to this order, Sharma was holding the position of SP in Jhajjar.
New Postings for Six Haryana Police Service Officers
Alongside the IPS officers, six HPS cadre officers have also been transferred to new roles. The list of officers and their new postings is as follows:
- Uday Singh Mehta: Posted as the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in Panchkula.
- Virender Singh: Assigned the role of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the State Crime Branch.
- Vikas Kumar: Appointed as the DSP for the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Ambala.
- Ravinder Kumar: Posted as the DSP in the State Crime Branch.
- Satish Kumar: Transferred to the position of DSP in the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB).
- Kuldeep Singh: Posted as the DSP in the State Crime Branch.
These orders were officially issued by the state's Home Department, signaling an administrative refresh aimed at optimizing police leadership across key districts and units.
Implications and Administrative Context
Such periodic reshuffles are a standard administrative practice intended to bring fresh perspectives to policing challenges and ensure efficient law and order management. The postings to districts like Jhajjar and Panipat are particularly crucial, given their strategic and industrial importance in the state. The concentration of several HPS officers in the State Crime Branch indicates a focused effort on strengthening investigative capabilities and tackling specialized crime.
The transfers are expected to take effect immediately, with the officers directed to assume their new responsibilities. This move is part of the Haryana government's ongoing efforts to streamline its police administration and align senior leadership with current operational requirements.
