The Haryana Police on Wednesday used water cannons to disperse Youth Congress workers who were protesting over the alleged NEET paper leak. The protest took place in Panchkula, where a large number of party workers had gathered to demand strict action against those responsible for the leak.

The demonstrators, led by Haryana Youth Congress President Satyaveer Singh, raised slogans against the state government and demanded a thorough investigation into the matter. They also called for the resignation of the officials involved in the examination process.
The police resorted to using water cannons after the protesters tried to break through the barricades and move towards the chief minister's residence. The situation remained tense for several hours, but no injuries were reported.
Background of the Issue
The NEET paper leak controversy has been a major issue in Haryana, with opposition parties accusing the state government of negligence. The Youth Congress had been planning this protest for days, alleging that the leak compromised the integrity of the medical entrance exam.
Earlier, the Congress party had submitted a memorandum to the governor, seeking a high-level inquiry into the leak. The state government, however, has denied any wrongdoing and stated that it is cooperating with the investigation.
Reactions from Leaders
Satyaveer Singh condemned the police action, calling it an attack on democratic rights. He said, "The government is trying to suppress the voice of the youth by using force. We will continue our protest until justice is served."
On the other hand, the police defended their actions, stating that the protesters were warned multiple times before the water cannons were used. A senior police official said, "We had to maintain law and order as the protest was turning violent."
