Himachal Congress govt disconnected from people: Anurag Thakur

Former Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Anurag Thakur on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, accusing it of being completely disconnected from the expectations and problems of the common people. He claimed that the state administration is solely focused on enjoying power rather than addressing public grievances.

Congress Leaders Questioning Government

Speaking to journalists in Hamirpur after participating in a tree-plantation drive under the 'Now for Climate' campaign, Thakur asserted that not only the opposition but also members of the Congress party are raising questions about the functioning of the government. He said this internal criticism has cast serious doubts on the governance style of the state administration.

Allegations of 'Suitcases Culture'

Thakur highlighted the recent allegations made by a senior state Congress leader regarding a 'suitcases culture' within the government. He termed these allegations as extremely serious and demanded that the government clarify the source of these suitcases and identify the individuals behind them. "If such allegations are being made by senior Congress leaders, the government must come clean and explain the matter," he said.

Climate Change Concerns

Addressing the issue of environmental conservation, Thakur emphasized that climate change is a major challenge facing the entire world. He urged everyone to participate in initiatives like the 'Now for Climate' campaign to combat environmental degradation. The former Union Minister also planted saplings during the drive to set an example for the public.

Thakur's remarks come at a time when the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh is facing multiple allegations of corruption and mismanagement. The party's internal rift has become more visible, with several leaders openly criticizing the government's performance. The opposition BJP has been consistently targeting the state government on issues of development and transparency.
