Himachal Pradesh Marks State Day with Grand Awards Ceremony and Welfare Measures
On the occasion of Himachal Day, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu presided over a significant ceremony in Shimla, where he conferred the State-Level Awards 2026. This event honored distinguished individuals and institutions for their exceptional contributions across various fields, bringing immense pride to the state of Himachal Pradesh.
Recognition for Civil Services and Digital Governance
In the departmental or institutional category, the civil services award was presented to Mandi Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan and the Department of Digital Technology and Governance. This highlights the state's commitment to enhancing administrative efficiency and embracing technological advancements.
For individual excellence, Smritika Negi, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Civil) of Balh in Mandi district, was honored for her commendable service. Her dedication exemplifies the high standards of public service in Himachal Pradesh.
Inspirational Achievements and Team Honors
Under the 'Prerna Srot Samman' in the individual category, Charu Sharma from Shimla district and Chhonzin Angmo from Kinnaur district were recognized for their inspiring achievements. Their stories serve as motivation for others in the community.
In the group category, members of the Indian National Women's Kabaddi Team—including Ritu Negi, Sakshi Sharma, Pushpa, Bhawna Devi, and Champa Thakur—were honored for their outstanding performance. Additionally, the Department of Urology at AIMSS Chamiyana Hospital received recognition under this category for its contributions to healthcare.
Himachal Gaurav Awards for Notable Contributions
The prestigious Himachal Gaurav Award in the individual category was conferred upon several notable figures:
- Padma Shri awardee Prem Lal Gautam of Bilaspur
- Principal of AIMSS Chamiana, Dr. Brij Sharma
- Dr. OP Sharma of Hamirpur
- Harleen Kaur of Shimla
- Snehlata of Bilaspur
These individuals have made significant impacts in their respective domains, further elevating the state's reputation.
District-Level Recognitions and Welfare Initiatives
District-level awards were also presented to police personnel and Public Works Department officials from Kinnaur for their exemplary services. This underscores the importance of grassroots contributions to state development.
During the ceremony, Chief Minister Sukhu distributed land ownership documents (patta) to 24 families under the Forest Rights Act, ensuring their legal rights and security. Furthermore, a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each was provided to nine beneficiaries under the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board as the first instalment for house construction, supporting affordable housing initiatives.
