HP Construction Board Gives Rs 14.17 Cr Aid to Workers

In a significant move to support the state's workforce, the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has disbursed a substantial sum in welfare benefits. The announcement was made during the board's latest meeting, highlighting its ongoing commitment to worker welfare.

Major Financial Aid for Construction Workers

The board's chairperson, Nardev Singh Kanwar, revealed on Monday that financial assistance exceeding Rs 14.17 crore has been distributed to a total of 3,835 beneficiaries. The funds were allocated under the board's various welfare schemes designed to aid registered construction workers across the state.

A closer look at the disbursement shows that the lion's share of the aid was directed towards education. Kanwar specified that over Rs 9.28 crore was provided under the board's education assistance schemes. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on workers' families by supporting the educational pursuits of their children.

New Sub-Office and Administrative Approvals

During its 53rd board of directors meeting, which was presided over by Chairperson Kanwar, several key administrative decisions were taken to enhance operational efficiency. The board approved the establishment of a new sub-office for the welfare board at Baldwara, Bhambla, in the Mandi district.

This strategic move is intended to improve accessibility and streamline service delivery for the thousands of construction workers registered with the board in the region. By bringing services closer to the beneficiaries, the board hopes to ensure smoother processing and greater outreach.

Furthermore, the meeting saw the formal approval of the welfare board's annual accounts for the financial year 2024-25, ensuring transparency and fiscal responsibility in its operations.

Focus on Expediting Pending Claims

Recognizing the importance of timely support, the board issued clear directives to the concerned authorities to speed up the processing of all pending claims. The emphasis was on completing essential formalities like e-KYC and other documentation processes without delay.

This push is aimed at ensuring that every eligible construction worker who has applied for benefits receives the entitled assistance as quickly as possible. The board's focus remains on minimizing bureaucratic hurdles and maximizing the impact of its welfare schemes on the ground.

The concerted efforts of the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board underscore a dedicated approach to safeguarding the interests and well-being of the state's vital construction workforce.
