In a tragic incident that has shaken the Hyderabad community, forty-five pilgrims from the city lost their lives in a devastating bus accident in Saudi Arabia. The Telangana government has stepped forward with immediate support and coordination to help the bereaved families during this difficult time.

Final Rites Conducted with Religious Dignity

Government advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir confirmed that the funeral prayers for all victims of the Medina bus accident were conducted with utmost religious respect. The prayers took place after Zuhr at Masjid al-Nabawi, followed by burials at the revered Jannat al-Baqi cemetery in Medina.

Swift Government Response to Crisis

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy demonstrated immediate leadership upon receiving the tragic news. The CM alerted officials and called for an emergency meeting at Haj House to assess the situation and determine the necessary course of action. During the subsequent cabinet meeting, three crucial decisions were made to support the affected families.

The state government arranged for two relatives of each deceased pilgrim to travel to Saudi Arabia to assist in identifying the bodies and completing DNA verification procedures. Remarkably, all travel arrangements including emergency passports and visas were organized within 24 hours, with the Telangana government covering all associated costs.

Financial Support and Coordination

In a significant relief measure for the grieving families, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹5 lakh for each victim. The state government also dispatched an official delegation to Saudi Arabia to coordinate with local authorities and ensure smooth proceedings.

Shabbir Ali acknowledged the effective coordination between state and central governments during this highly sensitive period. The Telangana government maintained constant communication with the families, providing real-time updates and necessary support throughout the crisis management process.

The seamless cooperation between Indian and Saudi authorities ensured that the victims received proper religious rites and burial according to Islamic traditions, bringing some solace to the heartbroken families back in Hyderabad.
