Hyderabad Student Dies by Suicide After Alleged Love Failure

Hyderabad: In a tragic incident that has shocked the local community, a 20-year-old undergraduate student died by suicide at her rented accommodation in Manikonda, Hyderabad, on Monday. The young woman, identified as Bonu Komali, was a first-year BSc student at a private college in Maisammaguda and had previously worked for a YouTube channel creating social media content.

Heartbreaking Final Message to Mother

According to Raidurgam police, Komali sent a final text message to her mother, B Satya Varalakshmi, at 1:34 AM on February 23. The message read: "I love you mummy so much. Jagratha. Thammudini baaga chusuko (Take care of younger brother)." Varalakshmi, who works as a babysitter in Kuwait, immediately tried calling her daughter but found the phone switched off.

The concerned mother then contacted Komali's friend, Manasa, and requested her to check on the student. Manasa arrived at the apartment around 3 PM and discovered the door latched from inside. After repeated knocks failed to elicit any response, she alerted neighbors and called the police.

Police Investigation Reveals Disturbing Details

Raidurgam inspector Ch Venkanna stated: "Our team broke the door latch and found her hanging from the ceiling fan." During their investigation, police learned that Komali had attempted suicide approximately six months earlier. At that time, her mother discovered that Komali had been in love with a 27-year-old software employee for three years.

Investigators recovered a personal diary from the scene in which Komali detailed her feelings, describing three years of unrequited affection. Inspector Venkanna revealed: "Even a day before the suicide, she called him to her flat and expressed her love but he told her he was not interested. He even messaged her recently not to harass him."

Background and Living Situation

Komali, originally from Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam, had been living in a flat at LIG Chitrapuri Colony, Manikonda, for the past 11 months. Her mother has filed a formal complaint with the police regarding the circumstances leading to her daughter's death.

This tragic case highlights several concerning issues:

  • The vulnerability of young students living away from family support systems
  • The devastating impact of unrequited love and relationship failures
  • The importance of mental health awareness and support mechanisms
  • The need for better communication channels between students and counseling services

The police investigation continues as authorities examine all aspects of this heartbreaking case. The community has been left mourning the loss of a young life with promising potential, cut short under tragic circumstances.
