HYDRAA Tells Court It Won't Interfere in Kukatpally Land Dispute
HYDRAA Informs Court of Non-Interference in Land Dispute

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Thursday informed a vacation bench of the Telangana High Court that it is not interfering in a 13.17-acre land parcel in Kukatpally that was in possession of NVN Constructions Pvt Ltd.

Background of the Case

Claiming that the site was part of a waterbody, HYDRAA had demolished the compound wall, security guard rooms, disconnected electricity supply, and damaged machinery and equipment at the site. Following that, when the firm moved a contempt case, the High Court on May 29 passed interim directions directing HYDRAA and other government agencies to restore the site to its original form by reconstructing the demolished structures.

Court Directives

Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka further directed that if government agencies do not take up reconstruction works, the petitioner could take up the reconstruction and recover the expenses from the agencies. The matter has been posted to June 8 for further hearing.

When the matter came up for hearing on Thursday, HYDRAA's counsels submitted to the court in writing that they have not violated any orders and were not interfering anymore in the said property. Taking serious note of this, the judge pointed out that the officials carried out demolitions at the site in violation of previous High Court orders and in contradiction of their own undertaking that the site does not fall in any waterbody and that it was a private patta property.
