Following the intervention, Speaker Munnalal Yadav directed Fauzia Sheikh Aleem to leave the House. Before departing, the Congress corporator challenged the Speaker to provide legal justification for her removal.
"What act makes it mandatory?" she questioned, demanding to see the specific law that requires singing 'Vande Mataram'. She explained her position by citing religious principles, stating, "Our religion, Islam, does not permit us to sing 'Vande Mataram' in this manner. No one can force us to do so. The Constitution gives us this freedom."
Shortly after making these statements, Fauzia left the House voluntarily, though the directive from the Speaker had already been issued.

Congress leader of opposition Chintu Choukse stepped in to defuse the tense situation. He emphasized that singing 'Vande Mataram' should be considered a matter of personal choice rather than a compulsory requirement.
However, Choukse was careful to balance this position by affirming the Congress party's commitment to respecting both the national anthem and the national song. He also confirmed that the state party president had been informed about the developments that unfolded during the budget session.
