INLD Protests in Haryana Turn Tense

Protests organized by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) against rising inflation and alleged corruption led to tense scenes in parts of Haryana on Monday. Party workers clashed with police, and an INLD MLA engaged in a verbal duel with the Rohtak superintendent of police.

Rohtak Incident

In Rohtak, INLD MLA Arjun Chautala led a march to the deputy commissioner's office. Police personnel shut the gates to prevent protesters from entering the premises, leading to a heated exchange between Chautala and police officials. As the situation escalated, deputy commissioner Sachin Gupta and superintendent of police Gaurav Rajpurohit reached the spot. During the confrontation, Chautala and the SP were involved in a verbal spat, a video of which later surfaced on social media.

Police again stopped Chautala when he attempted to meet the deputy commissioner later in the day, triggering further scuffles between INLD workers and security personnel. Protesters subsequently blocked a road by parking a tractor across it, disrupting traffic and forcing police to divert vehicles through alternate routes.

Sonipat Protest

In Sonipat, INLD workers arrived at the mini secretariat on bullock carts carrying banners and placards against inflation. Finding the main gate locked, they allegedly forced it open and entered the premises despite police resistance. Minor scuffles were reported during the protest.

The demonstrations were part of a statewide INLD campaign against price rise and alleged corruption.
