ISF Candidate Arabul Islam Allegedly Attacked During Campaign in West Bengal
In a disturbing incident of political violence, Indian Secular Front (ISF) candidate Arabul Islam was allegedly attacked during a campaign event in the Deuli 1 gram panchayat area of Canning East, West Bengal, on Tuesday. The altercation quickly escalated, resulting in a two-hour blockade of the crucial Basanti Highway by ISF supporters in protest.
Campaign Tensions Turn Violent
According to sources, the trouble began when ISF supporters were engaged in putting up party flags in the Kaluyakhali area, preparing for Arabul Islam's scheduled campaign visit. Tensions flared when a group of Trinamool Congress workers reportedly launched an attack on the ISF activists. The situation deteriorated further when Arabul Islam himself arrived at the location.
Witnesses stated that Trinamool workers charged at the ISF candidate and vandalized his convoy in a violent outburst. The attack resulted in significant damage, with approximately twenty motorcycles belonging to the campaign party being destroyed or severely impaired during the confrontation.

Arabul Islam has made serious allegations following the incident, claiming that the attack was orchestrated and led by the local panchayat pradhan, Sajahan Molla. He asserted that Molla acted at the direct behest of Shaukat Molla and Trinamool Congress candidate Baharul Islam, pointing to a coordinated effort to disrupt his campaign through intimidation and violence.
In a swift response to the alleged assault, ISF supporters mobilized and blocked the Basanti Highway at the Ghatakpukur crossing. The protest blockade lasted for two hours, causing significant disruption to traffic and local movement as they demanded action against the perpetrators.

Shaukat Molla, one of the individuals named by Arabul Islam, countered by accusing the ISF candidate of being the aggressor.
