Chandigarh: Former Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar on Wednesday strongly condemned what he described as attempts by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to divide the people of Punjab on the basis of religion and language.
Jakhar's Response to Social Media Posts
Reacting to posts by Kejriwal and Mann alleging misuse of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to target Hindu traders, Jakhar posted on X: 'Kejriwal ji/Bhagwant Mann ji, do not ignite a fire that you cannot extinguish. Stop this dirty politics of dividing Punjab in the name of religion.'
Appeal to Unity
Jakhar further stated, 'Punjab follows the divine principle given by the revered Gurus: 'manas ki jati sabhe ekai pahchanbo' (recognise the human race as one).' He urged the AAP leaders to refrain from divisive tactics and instead work towards the unity and prosperity of the state.
The former state BJP chief emphasized that such actions threaten the communal harmony that Punjab has historically maintained. He called upon the people of Punjab to remain vigilant against any attempts to sow discord based on religious or linguistic differences.
