Jamshedpur Civic Polls Gear Up with Massive Deployment and Security Enhancements

In a significant move ahead of the upcoming civic elections, Jamshedpur witnessed the dispatch of over 1,200 poll personnel, along with ballot boxes and essential logistics, to 249 polling booths across three civic bodies. This operation was conducted from the Jugsalai-cum-Golmuri block office on Sunday, marking a crucial step in the electoral process.

Distribution of Polling Booths and Security Classifications

The polling booths are distributed as follows: 190 in Mango Municipality Corporation (MMC), 41 in Jugsalai Municipal Council (JMC), and 18 in Chakulia Nagar Panchayat (CNP). Among these, a total of 119 booths in Mango, 38 in Jugsalai, and all 18 booths in Chakulia have been categorized as hyper-sensitive or sensitive, indicating areas requiring heightened security measures.

Oversight and Logistics by District Electoral Officer

District Electoral Officer (DEO) Karn Satyarthi personally visited the dispatch centre to oversee the logistics, which involved the use of 80 passenger buses and 30 pick-up vans for transportation. During his visit, Satyarthi emphasized the enhanced security protocols in place. Security has been significantly heightened at the hyper-sensitive and sensitive booths, with police forces and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) deployed specifically in Mango and Jugsalai civic areas.

Additionally, the district police were placed on alert mode starting Sunday afternoon, and drones will be utilized for aerial surveillance to monitor the polling process. Steps have also been implemented to ensure the safe return of ballot boxes to the receiving centre after voting concludes.

Voter Turnout and Electoral Details

A total of 196,791 voters in Mango, 44,239 in Jugsalai, and 12,587 in Chakulia are expected to participate in the elections. Voters will elect a mayoral candidate for Mango and a chairman for each of Jugsalai and Chakulia. Furthermore, electors will choose councillors across 70 wards in the three municipalities, highlighting the comprehensive nature of this civic electoral exercise.

Briefing for Fair and Peaceful Polling

To ensure a fair and peaceful polling process, sectoral magistrates and sectoral police officials received a joint briefing from SSP Piyush Pandey and DEO Karn Satyarthi. This coordination aims to address any potential issues and maintain order throughout the election day.

The preparations underscore the commitment to conducting transparent and secure civic elections in Jamshedpur, with all logistical and security measures meticulously planned to facilitate voter participation and uphold democratic principles.
