JD(U) Unveils Fresh National Office-Bearers List with Notable Changes
In a significant organizational development, the Janata Dal (United) party on Wednesday released a freshly curated list of its national office-bearers. The announcement, made from Patna, confirms that Sanjay Kumar Jha, a trusted confidant of JD(U) president and Rajya Sabha member Nitish Kumar, will continue to hold the pivotal position of national working president.
Surprising Omission of Nitish Kumar's Son
What has generated considerable political buzz is the conspicuous absence of Nitish Kumar's son, Nishant Kumar, from the newly announced roster of office-bearers. This development comes as a surprise to many political observers, given that Nishant Kumar had formally joined the JD(U) just last month. There was widespread anticipation within party circles that he would be accorded a significant organizational role, making his exclusion from this list particularly noteworthy.
Composition and Strategic Inclusions
The newly constituted list, personally overseen by Nitish Kumar following his entry into the Rajya Sabha, comprises a total of 24 members. A strategically important aspect of this list is the inclusion of five Muslim members, signaling the party's continued outreach to the politically influential minority community. These members are Afaque Ahmad Khan, Kankashan Perveen, Ghulam Rasool Baliyawi, Mohammad Nissar, and Ruhi Tamoom.
Key Leadership Appointments:
- National Vice-President: Former MP Chandeshwar Prasad Chandravanshi holds the sole position of national vice-president on the list.
- Treasurer: Parliamentarian Alok Kumar Suman has been appointed as the party treasurer.
Expanded General Secretariat
The party has established a substantial general secretariat with twelve appointed general secretaries. This group includes former IAS officer and close Nitish Kumar aide Manish Kumar Verma. The complete roster of general secretaries features:
- Afaque Ahmad Khan
- Shyam Rajak
- Ashok Chaudhary
- Ramesh Singh Kushwaha
- Ramsevak Singh
- Kahkashan Parween
- Kapil Harishchandra Patil
- Raj Singh Man
- Sunil Kumar (alias Engineer Sunil)
- Harshvardhan Singh
- Maulana Gulam Rasool Balyawi
Secretarial and Spokesperson Appointments
In additional organizational appointments, Rajeev Ranjan Prasad has been designated as the spokesperson-cum-secretary of the JD(U). The party has also named several secretaries to support administrative functions, including Ravindra Prasad Singh, Vidhya Sagar Nishad, Dayanand Rai, Sanjay Kumar, Mohammad Nisar, Ruhi, and Nivedita Kumari.
This comprehensive restructuring reflects Nitish Kumar's strategic vision for the party's national apparatus as he consolidates his position following his Rajya Sabha membership. The balance between experienced loyalists and community representation suggests a calculated approach to strengthening the JD(U)'s organizational framework ahead of future political challenges.
