Jind Officials Address LPG Supply Concerns, Warn Against Commercial Misuse
Senior officials in Jind on Friday moved to clarify that there is no shortage of cooking gas for domestic consumers, with cylinders being supplied regularly through authorized gas agencies. This announcement comes amid local claims of irregularities in distribution and pricing.
Administration's Stance on Domestic LPG Supply
Officials from the Food and Supplies Department have been directed to ensure that LPG meant for household use is not diverted for commercial purposes under any circumstances. A senior officer emphasized, "Domestic gas cylinders were meant only for household use. If domestic LPG cylinders were found being used in hotels, dhabas, street vendors, restaurants, or any other commercial establishments, strict action would be taken against the concerned person as per the rules."
The administration plans to conduct regular inspection drives to prevent misuse and ensure common consumers do not face inconvenience. Officials are making every effort to guarantee the smooth availability of essential commodities, with constant monitoring of the gas distribution system.
Local Complaints and Additional Measures
Despite official assurances, locals have reported that gas cylinders are being sold at higher rates, with agency owners allegedly charging an extra Rs 300 to Rs 400 per cylinder. Sources also noted that farmers are stocking diesel in anticipation of the upcoming season, adding to supply chain concerns.
To address consumer issues, the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has issued a toll-free number 1800-180-2087 for complaints related to LPG and other petroleum products. Safidon SDM Pulkit Malhotra appealed to citizens to ignore rumors and cooperate with the administration, stating their objective is to ensure timely delivery of essential commodities to every consumer.
Official Directives and Consumer Guidance
Officials have instructed gas agency owners to ensure timely supply and warned that negligence in distribution will lead to strict action. They urged consumers not to panic and stock LPG cylinders unnecessarily, but to purchase only as per requirement. The administration encourages consumers facing distribution problems to inform the concerned agency or administration for immediate resolution.
