Jodhpur Bus Accident Sparks Outrage as Villagers Set Vehicle Ablaze
A tragic road accident in Jodhpur resulted in the immediate death of a 35-year-old motorcyclist and triggered violent protests by local villagers, who set the involved public transport bus on fire. The incident occurred on Saturday in the Keru area, highlighting growing frustrations over road safety and reckless driving.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The accident took place around 4 pm near the Lordi bus stand. A bus traveling from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer allegedly lost control and collided with a motorcycle. The victim, identified as Rajuram Bheel, aged 35, was run over by the bus and died on the spot due to the severity of the impact.
Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was moving at a dangerously high speed, and the driver failed to maintain control in the bus stand vicinity. The collision was so intense that the motorcyclist had no opportunity to react or recover after being struck.
Escalation of Tension and Violent Protest
Following the accident, a large crowd of villagers gathered at the scene, expressing their anger by raising slogans against the bus driver. Within minutes, the situation escalated as the protesters set the bus ablaze, completely gutting the vehicle in the ensuing fire.
Police and administrative officials rushed to the location upon receiving information about the incident. Additional force was deployed to manage the crowd and prevent further violence. Fire brigade teams were also dispatched and successfully brought the blaze under control.
Police Response and Investigation
Station House Officer Ravindrapal Singh confirmed that a case has been registered against the bus driver, who is currently absconding along with the conductor. The victim's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
