K Kavitha Vindicated in Delhi Liquor Policy Case, Launches Scathing Attack on BRS Leadership

In a significant development, former Member of Legislative Council and Telangana Jagruthi founder K Kavitha has been granted a 'clean chit' in the alleged Delhi liquor policy case. Following the verdict from a Delhi court on Friday, Kavitha took to social media platform X to declare 'Satyameva Jayate' (truth alone triumphs), asserting that her claim of being a 'kadigina mutyam' (spotless pearl) has been validated.

Courtroom Victory and Political Fallout

Addressing media personnel at BRKR Bhavan shortly after the court's decision, Kavitha launched a pointed criticism against her brother and BRS working president KT Rama Rao. She specifically referenced KTR's recent social media post suggesting that the BRS suffered electoral setbacks in both assembly and Lok Sabha elections due to the liquor case against her and her subsequent imprisonment.

"You are living in denial, my dear brother," Kavitha stated emphatically. "Accept the facts and understand what truly transpired during the assembly elections. Take appropriate steps and engage with the people directly. Do not attribute the party's defeat to me. When did the party extend its support to me? Did the party's social media platforms ever stand by me?"

Rejecting Electoral Blame and Highlighting Governance Failures

Characterizing attempts to link the BRS's electoral defeat to the excise policy case as "dishonest and politically motivated," Kavitha elaborated: "Attempting to pin an electoral defeat on me constitutes an insult to the intelligence of Telangana's citizens. Blaming a fabricated case for electoral losses represents an effort to evade accountability."

Instead of accepting responsibility for the party's performance, she pointed to what she described as "governance failures" within the BRS administration, including:

  • Non-allocation of promised 2-BHK housing units
  • Failure to fill numerous government job vacancies
  • Distribution of party tickets to undeserving candidates
  • Arrogance displayed by top leadership figures

Drawing Political Parallels and Alleging Abandonment

Drawing a comparison with Delhi's political landscape, Kavitha noted that while the Aam Aadmi Party might have faced electoral consequences following former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's arrest, her situation differed significantly. She emphasized that the Telangana assembly elections occurred well before her arrest, making any correlation between her legal troubles and electoral outcomes untenable.

Kavitha further accused both her party and immediate family of abandoning her during her arrest and legal proceedings. She noted that neither her father, former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), nor her brother held press conferences or publicly defended her position. She went further to accuse her cousins, T Harish Rao and J Santosh Kumar, of conspiring against her, describing her father as "a god surrounded by devils."

The former MLC alleged that a faction within the BRS had deliberately planned and successfully executed a strategy to "break the BRS family" for their own financial and political gains.

Resignation and Legal Proceedings

Kavitha formally resigned from the BRS and her legislative council seat on September 3, 2025, just one day after receiving suspension over alleged anti-party activities. Regarding the court's verdict, she expressed gratitude for the judiciary finding the prosecution's arguments "baseless."

"From the very beginning, I maintained that this was a false case and that I would emerge with my integrity intact," she stated. "Today's verdict has unequivocally proven that truth beyond any reasonable doubt." She welcomed the 'clean chit' extended to all accused individuals in the case.

Personal Toll and Future Political Plans

Kavitha acknowledged that while the verdict represents legal vindication, it cannot undo the personal and familial suffering she endured over six months of legal battles. She described experiencing separation from her children, public humiliation, character assassination, and significant mental trauma.

"No financial compensation can restore my dignity or reclaim the time stolen from my family," she reflected. "What we endured was nothing short of injustice." She expressed gratitude toward her family members and political workers who supported her throughout every court hearing.

The former legislator also criticized the BRS's "failure" to counter what she characterized as "vile and misogynistic propaganda" propagated by the BJP, asserting that "the silence from party leadership directly emboldened such slanderous campaigns."

Looking toward the future, Kavitha announced plans to launch a new political party in the coming months, describing the court verdict as both moral and political vindication. She affirmed that she has always accepted people's verdicts with humility, including her defeat in the Nizamabad Lok Sabha election, and pledged to continue advocating for public interests regardless of organized political backing.

Additional Engagements and Farmer Advocacy

Earlier on Friday, Kavitha met with Telangana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Commission chairman M. Kodanda Reddy at BRKR Bhavan. During this meeting, she submitted a formal memorandum highlighting the distress faced by farmers in Gadwal, Nizamabad, and Khammam districts, demonstrating her continued engagement with grassroots issues despite recent political developments.
