Kanimozhi Addresses CM's Debate Absence, Leads Students to Keeladi Museum
Kanimozhi on CM's Debate Absence, Keeladi Student Visit

DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi addressed the political debate surrounding the Chief Minister's availability while emphasizing the importance of historical education during a visit to the Keeladi museum in Sivaganga. Accompanied by 200 school students on Saturday, the MP provided clarity on the Chief Minister's schedule and fulfilled an educational promise made earlier this year.

On the Chief Minister's Debate Availability

Responding to questions from reporters, Kanimozhi stated that the Chief Minister's current heavy workload does not allow him time to engage in a debate with the leader of the opposition. She clarified the stance by pointing out that there are many capable individuals within the party who would be prepared to take on such a debate. However, she assured that if specific questions are directed towards the Chief Minister, he would certainly provide the necessary answers.

Fulfilling a Promise to Students

The trip to the Keeladi archaeological site museum was the realization of a promise Kanimozhi made to students from Vallanadu Model School during her visit to their institution in July. The students had expressed a strong desire to visit both the Keeladi and Adichanallur museums. Their educational journey began with a visit to the Adichanallur museum on August 24, culminating in the Keeladi excursion on Saturday.

Kanimozhi highlighted the significance of the Keeladi museum, stating it offers a rare and invaluable opportunity for children to connect with the deep history of the Tamil people, their ancient civilization, and its many glories. She expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister and other ministers for facilitating such enriching experiences for the younger generation.

Criticism of MGNREGA Renaming and Implementation

The MP also took the opportunity to comment on national issues, specifically the renaming and performance of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Kanimozhi asserted that since the BJP government took office at the centre, the scheme has not been properly ensured for rural people across the country. She criticized its current state, claiming it has deteriorated to a point where a maximum of only 40 days of work is being provided, falling short of the guaranteed 100 days.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu and MLA Tamilarasi Ravikumar, who joined in the educational tour with the students.
