Karnataka Chief Minister-elect DK Shivakumar has made an unusual appeal to his supporters: please do not put flowers on me. Citing a severe allergy to garlands, the Congress leader urged party workers to exercise restraint during celebrations following his elevation to the top post.
Shivakumar's Allergy Concerns
Addressing reporters in Bengaluru on Monday, Shivakumar acknowledged the enthusiasm among party workers but stressed that arrangements for any felicitation events would remain restricted. 'I am allergic to flowers, especially garlands. Please do not put flowers on me,' he said, requesting supporters to cooperate with his request.
Restrained Celebrations Advised
The newly elected Chief Minister noted that while he appreciated the love and support, large gatherings and floral tributes could pose health risks. He urged workers to celebrate in a muted manner and avoid any form of wastage or extravagance. 'Your blessings are enough. Let us focus on serving the people of Karnataka,' Shivakumar added.
Shivakumar, who has been a prominent figure in Karnataka politics, is known for his grassroots connect and organizational skills. His appeal reflects a pragmatic approach as he prepares to take on the responsibilities of leading the state.
The Congress party has scheduled a formal swearing-in ceremony later this week, where Shivakumar will officially assume office. Party leaders have assured that all protocols will be followed, and the event will be conducted with simplicity in line with the CM-elect's wishes.
