The Karnataka government is set to issue the final land acquisition notification for the Bidadi township project by the end of June, despite opposition from certain quarters. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has assured that the project enjoys substantial support from local farmers and emphasized the need for swift compensation and implementation.
Government's Assurance
Deputy CM DK Shivakumar claimed that 80% of farmers support the GBIT (Global Business and Industrial Township) project near Bidadi. He urged authorities to expedite compensation and project execution to benefit the affected landowners.
Compensation Package
Farmers will receive a choice between 50% developed residential land or 45% commercial land per acre of acquired land. Additionally, monetary compensation of Rs 2.55 crore per acre will be provided, along with annual financial aid ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 during the development period. The government's total spending per acre is estimated at Rs 5 crore.
Project Benefits
The township will feature modern infrastructure including roads, water supply, and power connectivity. It will be integrated with major road networks and brought under the jurisdiction of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for improved services.
Political Defence
Shivakumar criticized opposition leaders for their stance against the project, pointing out that the land was not denotified even under previous governments. He accused them of failing to protect farmer interests and questioned their motives.
Legacy Commitment
The Deputy CM vowed not to denotify any land under his watch, asserting that his actions prioritize farmer welfare and aim to create a lasting legacy through the successful completion of the Bidadi township project.
