A conclave commemorating 60 years of lectures by RSS ideologue Deendayal Upadhyaya at the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) campus in Mysuru has erupted into a significant confrontation between the Karnataka government and Raj Bhavan. On Tuesday, the Karnataka state government announced the cancellation of the three-day conference, asserting that the private event's objectives were incompatible with the university's goals and government protocols. However, in a bold act of defiance, KSOU proceeded with the conference as scheduled. Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot attended the session on Wednesday, which was inaugurated by Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan via video conference, highlighting the direct involvement of high-ranking officials in the dispute.

He asserted, "They are even obstructing an event being held at a university. Such political interference in education isn't good. This government has brought a Bill against hate speech, but action must be taken against the government [for promoting hate]."
