Shivamogga: Shivamogga district minister Madhu Bangarappa on Tuesday directed officials to immediately release compensation for areca and coconut plantation farmers who suffered crop loss due to heavy winds and rain. The minister visited rain-affected areas in Shivamogga taluk and inspected Arahatolalu village to examine trees uprooted by the storm and interact with farmers. He personally reviewed the damage and listened to public grievances.
Inspection and Relief Measures
Later, he visited Vaddarahatti to inspect damaged houses and cowsheds, interacting with affected families and collecting loss-related data from officials. He instructed them to take swift action for compensation. After inspecting Malligenahalli, he directed that a survey (mahazar) of crop and property damage be submitted immediately. Due to power outages affecting water supply, he directed Mescom to restore electricity to 36 villages and ensure immediate drinking water supply.
Inquiry and Coordination
Madhu Bangarappa also ordered an inquiry to determine the cause of a death in Arahatolalu and instructed officials to work in coordination and submit a comprehensive report on crop loss. He noted that he would personally discuss compensation with the chief minister. The minister also visited his constituency of Soraba on Monday evening and promised compensation to farmers and villagers affected by rainfall.
