Kerala Election: IUML Leaders Express Confidence as UDF Declares Full Preparedness

In a significant political development from Kozhikode, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) state president Panakkad Sadikali Shihab Thangal has stated that the people of Kerala have heaved a collective sigh of relief with the announcement of the upcoming state election. According to Thangal, citizens are now happy that they only have to wait 26 more days to potentially end what he termed the "misrule" of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government.

No Concerns Over Early Announcement, UDF Fully Prepared

Addressing concerns about the election being announced earlier than some expected, Thangal emphasized there was no apprehension within the United Democratic Front (UDF) alliance. "UDF is fully prepared," he declared confidently, adding that the alliance stands firmly with the people of Kerala who he claims are eager for a change in government.

Thangal revealed that the UDF had already begun its election preparations well in advance and is now completely geared up for the electoral contest. Drawing a sports analogy, he noted, "UDF had described the local body polls as a semi-final battle and had said that it was waiting for the final. Now the final has been announced," indicating the alliance's strategic approach to the electoral process.

Seat-Sharing Complete, Candidate Announcements Pending

Meanwhile, IUML national general secretary P K Kunhalikutty provided further details about the alliance's readiness. He confirmed that bilateral discussions within the UDF have been successfully completed, and the crucial seat-sharing arrangements have been finalized among the constituent parties.

Kunhalikutty explained that formal candidate announcements would be made following internal discussions within each respective political party. He expressed strong confidence in the UDF's position, stating, "The UDF is ready to face the election and the people are prepared to vote against misrule," echoing Thangal's assessment of public sentiment.

The IUML leaders' statements come at a critical juncture as Kerala prepares for what is expected to be a closely contested election. With both major fronts—the UDF and LDF—gearing up for the political battle, these declarations from senior IUML figures signal the opposition alliance's coordinated strategy and organizational preparedness ahead of the polling date.
