Kerala's 'Operation Toofan' has led to the discovery of a software engineer growing cannabis plants in his bedroom and another individual cooking ganja with rice. The state-wide crackdown on narcotics has resulted in significant seizures, including around 0.6256 kg of MDMA, 0.136 kg of hashish oil, and 48.049 kilograms of ganja, according to home minister Ramesh Chennithala, who initiated the drive.
Details of the Raids
During the operation, authorities raided multiple locations across Kerala. In one incident, a techie was found cultivating cannabis plants inside his bedroom, converting his personal space into a mini plantation. In another bizarre case, a man was caught cooking ganja with rice, presumably to create an edible form of the drug.
Seizures and Arrests
The operation has so far led to the arrest of several individuals involved in the drug trade. The seized substances include high-grade MDMA, hashish oil, and large quantities of ganja. The home minister emphasized the government's commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
Chennithala stated that 'Operation Toofan' would continue until the drug menace is completely eliminated. He also urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing information about suspicious activities.
The crackdown is part of a broader initiative to combat the rising drug abuse among the youth in Kerala. Authorities are also focusing on rehabilitation programs for addicts, alongside stringent enforcement measures.
