KMDK Chief Says TVK's Vijay Ate Into AIADMK Vote Share in Tamil Nadu
KMDK Chief: TVK's Vijay Ate Into AIADMK Vote Share

CHENNAI: KMDK president E R Eswaran said on Saturday that TVK president Vijay ate into the AIADMK vote share. Eswaran met Chief Minister M K Stalin at the DMK headquarters here. He later told reporters that TVK might garner around 20 percent of the votes, and these would largely come from the AIADMK's voter base.

Weak Leadership and BJP Alliance Impact AIADMK

"Due to AIADMK's weak leadership, Vijay ate into AIADMK's vote share. People are aware that AIADMK general secretary (Edappadi K Palaniswami) is acting according to the instructions of the BJP. Also, those in the AIADMK who did not like their alliance with the BJP would have voted for TVK," Eswaran said.

He further asserted that the DMK alliance's vote bank remained intact. "As far as our (DMK alliance) votes are concerned, it is intact as we have won all the elections (from 2019)," he added.

Implications for Future Elections

Eswaran's comments highlight the shifting political dynamics in Tamil Nadu, where the entry of actor-turned-politician Vijay's party TVK is seen as a factor that could alter the traditional vote share of major parties. The AIADMK, which has been facing internal challenges and a contentious alliance with the BJP, appears to be losing ground to newer political forces.
