Kochi Corporation Initiates Tender Process for Sports Facility Maintenance
The Kochi City Corporation is set to float tenders for the operation and maintenance of two key sports turfs owned by the local body, marking a significant shift in management. This decisive action follows the Centre for Heritage, Environment and Development (C-Hed), which has been operating these facilities, expressing its inability to continue running them due to unspecified challenges.

The corporation-owned turfs are strategically located in Palluruthy and Chullickal, serving as vital recreational hubs for residents. In a parallel move, the corporation also plans to hand over the maintenance of P J Antony Ground, a prominent cultural space and playground, to a new firm through the tender process. Mayor VK Minimol emphasized the urgency of this initiative, stating, "C-Hed informed us that they won't be able to maintain the turfs. That's why we decided to invite tenders to identify a firm to operate and maintain these facilities." She further highlighted the substantial investment involved, adding, "As the turfs and P J Antony Ground were constructed spending crores, we need to give utmost care to their maintenance as well."
