Kottayam: MLA elect Mani C Kappan has expressed disappointment over not being included in the state cabinet. Speaking to a news channel on Tuesday, he revealed that constituents from his constituency had called to complain, as he had been assured of a ministerial position in the second term of the government.
Kappan stated that there was a prior agreement between him and Anoop Jacob regarding the sharing of a cabinet berth. According to the arrangement, Anoop Jacob was to hold the ministerial post for two and a half years, after which Kappan would take over for the remaining duration. He clarified that both parties had mutually accepted this rotational term arrangement.
Despite the promise, Kappan was not sworn in as a minister. He said that he has been promised a cabinet rank position until he gets the ministerial post after the two-and-a-half-year period. However, he expressed his intention to meet the Chief Minister in person to request the fulfillment of the commitment.
Kappan also alleged that an individual within the United Democratic Front (UDF) was responsible for him not getting the ministerial position. He did not disclose the name of the person but hinted at internal sabotage. He reiterated his disappointment and called for transparency in the decision-making process.
