Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao alleged that the Congress party came to power by spreading a smear campaign against the previous BRS government. Speaking at the Telangana formation day celebrations at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, after unfurling the flag, Rao said Congress made false promises and fake declarations during the 2023 assembly elections.
Congress Accused of Poisonous Propaganda
Rao stated that it was due to Congress's poisonous propaganda that BRS suffered defeat at that time. He remarked that the Congress party, which came through the backdoor, has pushed Telangana back by 25 years. Referring to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Rao said, "Revanth Reddy is turning the state, which he himself described as a platter full of abundance, into a discarded platter."
420 Promises and Lies
The BRS leader accused Congress of ascending to power by repeating lies in the form of declarations and what he termed as "420 promises." He said, "The Congress party has polluted Telangana politics with lies, fabrications, and poisonous propaganda. While the entire country got rid of Congress as a curse, it has come to Telangana."
BRS Leader Criticizes Government Performance
Rao noted that even though exactly half the term has elapsed, this Congress government has achieved nothing. He added that the party's struggle is not for power, but for the people of Telangana. "In 30 months, it has brought Telangana crashing down in all sectors. There is no section that has not been deceived under Congress rule," he said.
Highlighting agricultural issues, Rao said, "Agriculture, which was progressing happily, has sunk into crisis. There is no Rythu Bandhu, no one to provide fertilizers, and finally, even after 2 months of harvesting crops, there is no one to purchase them. It is painful to see the misfortune where even falling at the government's feet evokes no mercy."
Vengeance Against Irrigation Projects
The BRS leader alleged that with the intention of defaming former Chief Minister KCR, Congress has harbored vengeance against irrigation projects. He called Revanth Reddy an incapable and incompetent Chief Minister who cannot provide urea, procure paddy, pay Rythu Bandhu, or give jobs to unemployed youth.
Challenge to Rahul Gandhi
Rao also criticized Rahul Gandhi, saying, "Rahul Gandhi also deceived unemployed students and youth by making them sit at Ashok Nagar. In 2.5 years, the Congress government has not provided even 4,000 new jobs. What has Rahul Gandhi been doing for the remaining 2.5 years? Rahul Gandhi should come to Chikkadpally library and Ashok Nagar Chowrasta to debate on this."
BRS to Contest Alone
The BRS working president declared that the party would contest alone in the next elections, recalling that earlier the party has always contested alone and won alone after Telangana formation.
