BRS Leader KTR Slams Congress Government for Farmer Neglect in Telangana

In a sharp critique ahead of the state assembly session, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao has vowed to expose what he termed as the Congress government's betrayal of farmers and the people of Telangana. Speaking after paying tributes at the Martyrs' Memorial at Gun Park in Hyderabad on Monday, KTR, accompanied by party MLAs and MLCs, accused the ruling party of deceiving every section of society.

Political Expenditure Over Farmer Welfare

KTR asserted that the BRS would question the government during the assembly session about its priorities, particularly why it is focusing on political expenditure while neglecting the agricultural community. He highlighted a stark contrast in resource allocation, criticizing an alleged plan to allocate ₹1,000 crore to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while farmers in the state suffer from lack of support.

"This is why we are raising the slogan – ‘Not Rahul Bandhu, give Rythu Bandhu; 1,000 crore for Rahul, but a betrayal for farmers,'" KTR declared, emphasizing the party's commitment to advocating for farmer welfare over political favors.

Unfulfilled Promises on Six Guarantees

The BRS leader recalled that the Congress government had promised to implement six key guarantees within 100 days of coming to power, with legal status to be granted in the very first cabinet meeting. However, KTR pointed out that even after two and a half years in office, the government has failed to provide legal backing to these assurances.

He referenced the first governor's address after the Congress assumed power, where the state government announced that legal status would be granted to the six guarantees. The speech was approved by the chief minister and conveyed by then-governor Tamilisai Soundararajan in the assembly. Despite this public commitment, KTR noted that multiple assembly sessions have passed without the government fulfilling its pledge.

Criticism of Farmer Welfare Schemes

KTR strongly criticized the government's failure to implement crucial welfare schemes for farmers. He contrasted the previous BRS government's regime, where Rythu Bandhu funds were consistently credited to farmers before the sowing season, with the current situation. Under the Congress administration, he claimed, farmers are completing their harvest without receiving any support, and there is no clarity from the state on when assistance will be released.

This neglect, according to KTR, underscores a broader pattern of broken promises and misplaced priorities that have left Telangana's agricultural community in a precarious position.

The BRS's stance sets the stage for a contentious assembly session, with the party positioning itself as the voice of farmers against what it perceives as governmental indifference and betrayal.
